Most animal welfare experts agree: Spay/neuter is the most effective method to curb the pet overpopulation problem. And here's great news: If you're a Buncombe County, NC resident, you can get your dog or cat spayed or neutered at a very low cost.
The Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter clinic, located in Asheville, offers extremely affordable surgery rates, but even so, some pet owners need help with the cost. That's why the Buncombe County Animal Shelter is providing a spay/neuter voucher that makes the cost only $35 for a dog and $20 for a cat through Humane Alliance. This cost includes a rabies shot. Any Buncombe County resident can obtain a voucher because there are no income guidelines.
Get your spay/neuter voucher at the Buncombe County Animal Shelter, 16 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville (right next to the Asheville Humane Society Adoption & Education Center), off Brevard and Pond Roads, behind Harmony Motors. For more information, call (828) 250-6430
Spay/Neuter is the number one way to prevent euthanasia of homeless animals. By having your pet spayed/neutered, you are helping decrease the pet overpopulation problem.
By the way, Buncombe County residents can also get a free ID tag and collar for any pet at the shelter through the end of the 2012.
