"Full House" Dog Adoption Event May 29, 30, 31 - All Adult Dogs $9.99!

For three days only during a special "Full House" adoption promotion, every adult dog (age six months and up) is just $9.99 -- a small price to pay for priceless love! The Adoption Center is full to the brim with lovable, adoptable dogs.  Adopters can find a wide variety of mixed breed beauties, including boxers, chihuahuas, hounds, retrievers and terriers.  
 
The reduced adoption fee of $9.99 represents an exceptional savings and value.  All adoptions include spaying/neutering, current vaccines, medical and behavioral screening, microchipping, a free starter bag of food, one month of complimentary pet health insurance, and a free post-adoption veterinary office visit with a participating veterinarian. The reduced fee applies to dogs six months of age and older.
 
"We have an urgent and immediate need to place adult dogs in loving homes," says Jennifer Brehler, Interim President of Asheville Humane Society.  "We currently have a large number of dogs available for adoption and every one of them deserves a chance. We're asking everyone in our community to put the word out about our special 3-day 'Full House' adoption promotion so we can continue to save as many lives as possible."
 
The Adoption Center is located off Pond and Brevard Roads, right near the WNC Farmers Market. It is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Free Fearful Dog Session-Asheville, May 31

Be Brave

Pet Behavior Aid will hold a free information session, "Be Brave!," for owners of fearful dogs on Saturday, May 31, from 1 PM to 3 PM. The session will be held at Patton Avenue Pet Company, 1388 Patton Avenue, Asheville. Humans only, please.

Topics include how to help your dog gain confidence, learning how to understand signs of anxiety and when to step in, how to prevent fear from becoming aggression, and fundamental techniques to help your "wallflower" blossom.

Triad Dog Games, Winston-Salem, June 7, 8

Triad Dog GamesThe inaugural Triad Dog Games is the first canine competition of its kind in Winston-Salem, NC, featuring Carolina DockDogs — a dock-jumping and dock-diving sport as seen on ESPN and The Animal Planet. Other competitive as well as nonathletic events are planned throughout the two-day event for the communities’ competitors and spectators.

Presented by The Sergei Foundation, a North Carolina nonprofit, Triad Dog Games is a fundraising event to assist in its mission to save companion pets’ lives by providing veterinary financial assistance to families unable to afford emergency, life-saving care.

This admission-free, two-day, public event will be held at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees may enter their dogs to compete in a variety of canine competitions for a registration fee or suggested donation by June 1, 2014. Or, all are welcome to come spectate, shop the stores, eat and have some family fun (including leashed, friendly and rabies-vaccinated canine family members).

Dog competitions include DockDogs, disc dog, agility and doggy dashes. For the nonathletic pets and attendees, additional activities include a dog walk, a K-9 Hawaiian pool party, a pet/parent look-alike contest and a kids’ make-and-take project. There will also be a large-scale pet adoption fair featuring 10 area rescue organizations and shelters. PetSmart Adoption Weekend-Asheville, May 3-4
