About

Carolina Mountain Dog-mastheadHello and welcome to Carolina Mountain Dog! This "blogazine" is for you if you love dogs and you live in or near the Carolina mountains (or wish you did). It celebrates the unique relationship of dogs and the mountains, offering news of interest and valuable information about what to do and where to go with dogs in Western North Carolina and the South Carolina Upstate. Carolina Mountain Dog strongly advocates for humane treatment of animals, animal rights, spay/neuter, and adoption of shelter animals.

The mascot for Carolina Mountain Dog is Chester, an Australian cattle dog-shepherd mix. While Chester is no longer with us, he will be remembered as one of the sweetest, most loyal dogs we ever owned. We adopted him from Asheville Humane Society. All of our dogs have been adopted from shelters or rescue organizations.

I am a professional writer and dog lover, and I publish Carolina Mountain Dog as a service to local dog lovers. I am actively involved in the animal welfare community, providing marketing counsel to Asheville Humane Society and, with my wife, fostering animals for the Society.

In addition to writing for business and marketing websites and select clients, I am the author of several non-fiction books about branding, Internet marketing and small business. I am also a professional counselor for small business owners at the A-B Tech Community College Small Business Center in Asheville, NC.

Carolina Mountain Dog has been publishing since 2009, so you'll find lots of information here -- check out all the sections on the top navigation, as well as the archives. Thanks for stopping by!
